I woke up on my 60th Birthday and decided that I would run the next Race for Life (never having run anywhere!) I then saw the ad in the Watford Observer for the Beginners Course run by the Running Sisters and went along. I was going to stop once I had achieved my aim but I enjoyed it so much and met such lovely people that I am still running!

Pat H,

I have been a member of Watford running sisters for 10 years. I really value my membership of as WRS it has both enabled me to make a number of new friends over the years, as well as keeping on running albeit I am not very fast.

Barbara B,

I joined Watford Running Sisters after teaching myself to run to help with osteopenia (a medical condition in which the protein and mineral content of bone tissue is reduced, but less severely than in osteoporosis). I had never run until a few years ago. I found running in a group much more fun & have enjoyed all the social events; taking part in events & pushing myself to try new crazy things like Push for Peace and a Triathlon. I never would have thought it possible back in my school days of always being last trudging round the field! Watford Running Sisters is great, full of supportive, friendly like minded women who strangely also think it can be fun to go running in wind, rain & snow!!

Helen W,

I am not built for sport but I give it a good try. When I joined the Watford Running Sisters a while back I couldn't even run for 5 minutes without stopping. Now I have run several 5k and 10k events and even ran 10 miles once with the help of my sisters. They really are the loveliest group of ladies, nobody judges you and everybody is there to help. I have made some lovely friends there and cemented some previous relationships. Running on a Saturday morning and in the week is great - it gives you so much time to chat.. learn about other people and get fit. What more could you ask for.. A coffee afterwards.. we do that too!!
